Today, Federal Deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR) will take over the Secretariat for Institutional Relations, responsible for political coordination between the Executive and Legislative branches. A summit of the Progressive Party (PP) is scheduled to decide the party’s stance toward the government and the formation of a party federation with União Brasil. Another key event this week is a possible meeting of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) to discuss reducing import taxes on food. Last week, the government decided to eliminate import taxes on certain goods in hopes of improving its popularity.
