Governors from the states of Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo issued a joint letter to the president of Brazil’s Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, requesting a postponement of the decision regarding tariff reduction requests for electrified vehicles. Vice President Alckmin said he met with big tech companies for the second time on Tuesday (July 29), during which they agreed to establish a working group to discuss regulatory issues. According to Alckmin, the tech firms expressed a desire for a regulatory environment that fosters technological innovation, economic opportunity, and legal certainty. Today, the Central Bank is expected to announce its decision on the benchmark interest rate, which is likely to remain at 15% per year.
