President Lula (PT) yesterday signed four decrees regulating policies for the electricity and fuel sectors. The measures regulate the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF); Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), aimed at the environmentally responsible storage of CO2; the legal framework for green hydrogen; and the opening of the free electricity market to low-voltage consumers. Today, Supreme Federal Court Justice Luiz Fux will preside over a hearing that will determine the implementation of the agreement reached in May to enable a loan of up to R$6.6 billion from the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) to rescue the Bank of Brasília (BRB). The hearing will be open to the press. Adriana Gomes Rêgo, Deputy Special Secretary of Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service, said yesterday that the agency intends to release a second version of the regulations governing the new taxes created by the Tax Reform—the IBS and CBS—by October.
