A press release from Bloomberg one hour ago cites the exit poll from La Posta giving Noboa 51% and Gonzalez 48% as a possible outcome for today’s second round election. La Posta is not a well-credited news site and it has over and over again made evident its links with Correa and his party. As of 7:10 pm tonight, 76% of national votes have been counted (8,464,053 votes out of 11,126,000 possible votes). The national total outcome places Noboa as the virtual winner, with 56.5%. Noboa recovered votes in provinces such as El Oro, Imbabura and Santo Domingo, where he lost in the first round, and he maintains an important difference in the provinces of the Andean Region and in four provinces of the Amazon Region. It is worth noting that in three out of four largest provinces of the country: Pichincha, Azuay and Guayas, the difference in votes is irreversible, as it is for Gonzalez in Manabi (see Charts 1 and 2, source CNE). In the Andean region 2.34 million votes have been counted, and in the coastal region, 2.6 million have been counted. Luisa Gonzalez's votes increased by 0.02% of the vote when the total rose from 74% to 76%. At the time I am finishing this report, 94% of votes have been counted, with Noboa leading with 56% of votes versus 44% for Gonzalez. We believe this trend is irreversible and has given Noboa a very successful win.
