The energy ceasefire did not last long

Predictably, the energy ceasefire did not hold even for a week. Last night, Russia carried out another large-scale strike on energy infrastructure, using hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles. In fact, Russia usually needs about a week to prepare for a massive air attack, and this pause—while preparations for the new strike were underway—was presented to Donald Trump as an “energy ceasefire.” This is very much Russia’s style and a clear benchmark of what kind of ceasefire it offers to anyone who believes Russia will respect one. As we have observed many times, including in recent history—such as the Khasavyurt Peace Accord in Chechnya in 1996—Russia simply uses such pauses to regroup, learn from mistakes, and launch a stronger attack. This is what awaits Ukraine if, by any chance, Zelenskyy accepts what Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are pushing him to accept.
